279. The Black Eagles podcast (May 14th, 2024) - Beşiktaş advance to the cup final and draw against Alanyaspor in the league

Beşiktaş eliminate Ankaragücü in the Turkish cup semi-finals thanks to an Ernest Muçi strike from the edge of the area, advancing them to the cup final to be played on the 23rd of May at the Atatürk Olimpiyat stadium against Trabzonspor.

Things didn't go so well for the Black Eagles in the league however, as a severely depleted Beşiktaş side (due to injuries and suspension) were held at a 1-1 draw away against Alanyaspor. Which significantly diminishes their chances at a top 4 finish.

Furthermore we'll look ahead at the Hatayspor game on Saturday and briefly talk about the upcoming cup final against Trabzonspor!

278. The Black Eagles podcast (May 5th, 2024) - Beşiktaş 3-2 Rizespor, Manager and transfer talk

In this week's episode Sinan, Kaan and Kartal look back at Beşiktaş' hard fought 3-2 win over direct rivals Rizespor in the league.

The guys also preview the upcoming clash in the semi-finals of the cup against Ankaragücü in front of a sellout crowd. We also look at the hottest news topics surrounding the Black Eagles with a contract extension for young Mustafa Hekimoglu, some controversial statements by TFF board member Hamit Altintop re: the recent Semih Kiliçsoy/National team controversy.

We also talk about some big updates on the managerial front, with Beşiktaş pulling out of the race to sign Hansi Flick as their new head coach aswell as the potential reasons behind Ilhan Palut not being considered for the job.

Nuri Şahin is once again a topic of conversation, as the young manager has met with Beşiktaş president Hasan Arat in Germany, giving him a 1,5 hour presentation and expressing his desire to become the new Beşiktaş boss.

Paired with the update on Nuri, there are some exciting rumors surrounding Borussia Dortmund players Marco Reus and Salih Özcan, who are both linked with a move to the Black Eagles. Aswell as Ángel Di Maria. We talk about that and more in this week's episode!

275. The Black Eagles podcast (April 19th, 2024) - SANTOS IS GONE! Topraktepe takes over as Beşiktaş renew their managerial search.

Fernando Santos found himself dismissed following the second consecutive 1-1 draw, this time against Samsunspor on Monday, following an earlier last minute draw against Basaksehir the previous week.

With 3 losses and 2 draws from their last 5 games, the Beşiktaş saw no other option than to shoot in to action and dismiss Fernando Santos prematurely as the Black Eagles still have all to play for in the Turkish cup and the league for next season's European qualification.

Sinan, Kaan and Kartal give their opinions on who should succeed Fernando Santos next season. Whether there is a scenario in which Serdar Topraktepe takes the reigns for next season aswell and we also discuss Semih Kiliçsoy's continued rise. That and much in this nearly 3 hour long episode.

Beşiktaş have two important matches against Ankaragücü coming up in the next couple of days, first at home in the league on Friday followed by the first leg away in the Turkish cup semi-finals on Tuesday. Two crucial games for European qualifciation, either through the league or the cup.

272. The Black Eagles podcast (February 21st, 2024) - A round-up of Beşiktaş' recent games in the league and cup, Semih is on fire and Muçi and Al-Musrati give Beşiktaş a huge boost!

BONUS EPISODE - Deadline day MADNESS! Ernest Muçi, Ali Al-Musrati and Basar Önal!?

We weren't holding our breath and for a while it looked like the January transfer window would fizzle out and result in disappointment but the Black Eagles have made two big statement transfers on deadline day!

First up Besiktas have signed ERNEST MUCI from Legia Warsaw on a permanent transfer, president Hasan Arat used his connections with the Polish prime minister Duda to get this deal done and personally went over to conclude the negotiations with Legia. Muçi is a 22 year old Albanian international, regarded as a prime talent, he plays primarily as an offensive midfielder but can also play on either wing and as a striker.

Second up Besiktas have loaned SC Braga's Libyan defensive midfielder Ali Al-Musrati. Musrati again is a highly regarded player in the Portuguese league, known for his passing ability alongside his defensive capabilities. He's 27 years old, Besiktas have loaned him with an option to buy.

And of course Besiktas had already signed the Englishman Joe Worrall earlier int he week from Nottingham Forest, the 27 year old English central defender captained Forest for many years and is known as a very combative defender.

Finally Besiktas are also closing in on a deal for FC De Graafschap's 19 year old left winger Basar Önal, again a highly regarded talent from the Dutch second division, Basar holds a Turkish passport alongside his Dutch passport.

Sinan and Kaan look back at Beşiktaş' two most recent games since our last episode, against Pendikspor (4-0 loss) and Adana Demirspor (0-0 draw).
